The first details about Asus’ smartwatch first emerged at the end of January. The Taiwanese computer maker was quoted as telling investors that it wants to unveil a wearable device at Computex in June.
Now the company’s chairman Jonney Shih spoke over the weekend about the company’s plans. According to Shih, the biggest problem the company is working on is how to get around the tiny user interface found in a smartwatch.
“There would be more natural user interfaces such as voice or movement controls,” revealed Shih at a Taiwan University job fair, reports Focus Taiwan. He admitted that “more breakthroughs are needed in these areas.”
Another area where the company is investing heavily is battery life. Shih said that it is his opinion that smartwatches should last significantly longer than smartphones.
He said that the company had come across “many challenges in this area”.
Though he didn’t say explicitly, Shih didn’t deny that the company would unveil the smartwatch at Computex as had previously been reported.
