iPhone six Concept Looks Tantalizingly Real

Here’s one major difference between Apple and Samsung. There aren’t many fanboys out there who are mocking up designs for the latter company’s Next Big Thing. Apple, on the other hand, has legions of fans lining up to depict what the iPhone 6 will look like. And this concept from designer Sam Beckett nails most of the rumors in a quick 1 minute and 37 seconds.

The clip starts out with some playful piano music as the iPhone Air (as Sam calls it) spins around. Cut to another shut that shows all of the components of the device coming together, including a Touch ID sensor that looks more flush with the rest of the black chassis.

The biggest visual difference between this iPhone Air/iPhone 6 concept and the iPhone 5s is the larger 4.7-inch display, up from a small 4 inches on today’s smartphone. Beckett lists a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels or 468 pixels per inch. This would represent a 17 percent jump in size with 68 percent more pixels.

Apple is rumored to be working on two versions of the iPhone 6, one with a stronger 4.7-inch sapphire crystal display and one with a screen as large as 5.7 inches to better compete against Android phablets like the Galaxy Note 3. The reason the 4.7-inch concept doesn’t look much larger than the iPhone 5s is because has a considerably reduced bezel frame. As a result, the iPhone Air mock is only 10 percent larger while being 9 percent thinner.

Beckett also shows a camera offering 10-megapixel resolution (up from today’s 8-MP shooter) that has a f/1.8 aperture, which would let in even more light than the f/2.2 lens on the iPhone 5s.

On the software front, the iPhone 6 concept features a Healthbook icon on the home screen. This app will reportedly help users track their steps, diet and heart rate (presumably in concert with third-party accessories or the rumored iWatch.)
