F-16 HUD technology coming to smart glasses

The company behind the heads-up display technology found in F–16 jet fighters has announced plans to launch a pair of smart glasses.

Lumus’ Meta Pro glasses don’t come cheap at $3,650 (£2,180), but they do feature cutting edge technology.

According to the company, the headset uses Android to help it understand gestures as part of a hand-controlled system. It also has the ability to display augmented reality overlay for the user.

The company is also planning on offering the glasses to other companies for use in their own smart glasses.

Lumus’ announcement means there is another competitor in the market seeking to steal Google Glass’ current crown as the king of smart glasses.

There is no word on whether or not the company is planning on launching the Meta Pro glasses in the UK. Nor is there any word about potential partners.
