Despite these unconfirmed reports, Apple has been clear about its determination to keep iOS and OS X as separate platforms, albeit with some cooperation between the two.
With iOS 7 and OS X Mavericks, consumers were given more compatibility between these operating systems, with shared apps and better opportunities to sync between their mobile devices and OS X desktops and laptops.
Projecting the Future
With Apple's recent adoption of the 64-bit A7 processor in its tablets and phones, it is very possible that the company is leaning toward developing more opportunities for iOS users to use their mobile devices as real laptop repacements, or even desktop devices.
With the power of the A7 chip, iPad and iPhone users will be able to run the more-intensive programs that can be found on the OS X platform. This processor certainly gives the potential to turn an Apple Tablet or phone into a desktop computer, and given the increased demand for computing mobility, it's not so hard to believe that Apple will want to offer consumers this option.
J.P. Morgan recently made predictions indicating that we could very well see the rumored iAnywhere device within the next year and a half. Some suggest that it may be introduced alongside the purported 12-inch iPad Pro, which is expected to be targeted at business users. Analysts have also pointed to the current slowdown of Apple unit volumes, and have suggested the trend will continue to decline. Therefore, it seems that Apple may have to impress consumers and investors with new technology, and the iAnywhere might just be the product for Apple to achieve continued success.
Leading up to the rumored release of the iAnywhere, analysts expect that Apple will work to keep interest in their products by launching a 5-inch iPhone and a larger iPad with a keyboard for business users.
Analysts expect that the rumored docking station with display will change the landscape of Apple and further enhance the company's profitability. With more users turning towards hybrid devices, it would allow iOS enthusiasts to keep with Apple's products without having to turn to the Windows 8.1 tablet hybrids.
